Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer
Cathy S. Woollums, 62, is the senior vice president, chief sustainability officer for Berkshire Hathaway Energy. Woollums is responsible for developing, leading and integrating the sustainability strategy throughout the company. She currently serves on The Climate Registry’s board of directors as its treasurer and chairs its finance committee, and also serves on the advisory board of the Rio Bravo Carbon Sequestration Project in Belize. Cathy has served several terms on the Iowa State Bar Association’s Environmental and Natural Resources Section Council and the Iowa Climate Change Advisory Council and acts as chair of the Berkshire Hathaway Sustainability Leadership Council. Prior to her appointment as chief sustainability officer in 2018, Woollums served as senior vice president, environmental and chief environmental counsel.
Prior to joining the company in 1991, Cathy was a litigation attorney in private practice and served as a judicial clerk for the Seventh Judicial District of Iowa. Woollums is a graduate of Winona State University and Drake University Law School and is licensed to practice law in Iowa and Illinois.
