Kirk Crews, 47, is senior vice president, chief financial officer and director of Berkshire Hathaway Energy. Mr. Crews is responsible for managing all aspects of the company's financial operations. He supports the evaluation, negotiation and closing of the company's domestic and international financings, acquisitions and project developments. Additionally, he manages all accounting, financial reporting, tax, budgeting, long-range financial planning and internal audit functions for the company.
Prior to joining Berkshire Hathaway Energy in March 2026, Mr. Crews was executive vice president and chief risk officer for NextEra Energy, Inc., where he was responsible for overseeing enterprise risk. He previously held various business and financial leadership roles within the NextEra organization during his 10 years with the organization, including serving as NextEra's CFO. Prior to joining NextEra, Mr. Crews was a partner at Deloitte & Touche, LLP, where he primarily served clients in the financial services and energy industries. From 2013 to 2015, Mr. Crews worked in the office of the chief accountant of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as a professional accounting fellow.
Mr. Crews earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting with a minor in leadership studies from the University of Richmond. He also completed the Emerging CFO – Strategic Financial Leadership Program at Stanford University. Mr. Crews is a certified public accountant in Missouri.
