Matthew L. Finnegan, 55, is president and CEO for BHE Renewables. BHE Renewables owns, operates and develops solar, wind, geothermal, natural gas and hydro projects that produce energy for both the wholesale market and for customers under long-term power purchase agreements.
Finnegan has worked for Berkshire Hathaway Energy and its utility companies since 2005. His previous roles at the company have included senior vice president of corporate operations at BHE, president of Kern River Gas Transmission Company, vice president of resource management for BHE Pipeline Group, and general manager of the Walter Scott Jr. Energy Center for MidAmerican Energy Company.
Finnegan is a member of the University of Iowa's Electrical and Computer Engineering Advisory Board, and the University of Iowa's Advisory Council for the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship at the Tippie College of Business.
Prior to joining MidAmerican in 2005, Finnegan was a mechanical engineer for the global engineering firm Black & Veatch, and prior to that a design engineer for Murray Turbomachinery, a division of Siemens.
Finnegan is a registered professional engineer with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in business administration, both from the University of Iowa.
