Service Area: 11,000; Square Miles

MidAmerican Energy is the first utility in Iowa to take a step toward electrifying a heavy-duty service fleet. With 100 vehicles that are partially or totally electric, this fleet includes general purpose company electric vehicles and hybrids, as well as utility trucks outfitted with electric booms. MidAmerican also sponsors other organizations with electric buses in Des Moines, Iowa City and the Quad Cities, which all run on 100% electric power.

In 2024, MidAmerican delivered the equivalent of 100% carbon-free energy to serve its Iowa customersï¿½ electricity usage. Renewable energy makes up 91.7% of energy delivered over the course of the year.

MidAmerican Energy has more wind power on its system than any other investor-owned utility in the U.S.

At year-end 2024, MidAmerican Energy operated nearly 3,500 turbines across Iowa, serving more than 2.4 million average Iowa households with clean, renewable energy.

At year-end 2024, MidAmerican Energy's owned capacity of clean, renewable generation from wind power was nearly 7,800 megawatts.
