Greenhouse Gases

Though difficult to estimate future emissions and their environmental impacts, Berkshire Hathaway Energy proactively manages emissions in several ways:

Pursuing fossil-fueled generation heat-rate improvement projects and investing in renewable generation
Investing in new electricity transmission and distribution equipment that both improves reliability and reduces the needless loss of kilowatts
Working relentlessly to avoid fugitive releases of methane from our interstate pipeline and residential gas distribution operations
Reducing fugitive emissions of sulfur hexafluoride from our electricity transmission and distribution operations

By being active and engaging in public-private air improvement efforts, Berkshire Hathaway Energy has been able to improve greenhouse gas accounting and reporting protocols, and promote voluntary initiatives that minimize our impact on the air.
