MidAmerican Energy tops segment ranking in latest J.D. Power customer satisfaction study

Region-Large Segment in J.D. Power’s Electric Utility Business
Customer Satisfaction StudySM



DES MOINES, Iowa – (Jan. 15, 2015) – For the second year in a row, MidAmerican Energy Company’s business customers have rated the company highest for overall satisfaction in its segment in the J.D. Power Electric Utility Business Customer Satisfaction StudySM.



The 2015 study, released this week, measures satisfaction among business customers of 101 U.S. electric utilities, each of which serves more than 25,000 business customers. Overall satisfaction is examined across six factors, listed in order of importance: power quality and reliability; billing and payment; corporate citizenship; price; communications; and customer service. Satisfaction is calculated on a 1,000-point scale.



For 2015, MidAmerican Energy once again took top honors among the 13 companies in the Midwest Region-Large Segment with an overall satisfaction index score of 718 – 21 points higher than its 2014 score, and 13 points ahead of the runner-up in the segment.



Terry Ousley, vice president, customer satisfaction for MidAmerican Energy, said the utility’s outstanding showing in the J.D. Power rankings reflects a company-wide focus on delivering exceptional service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.



“We never lose sight of the fact that the electricity we provide is absolutely essential to our customers’ ability to operate their businesses,” Ousley said. “Our employees understand that whatever their individual job titles might be, we all share the same commitment: to deliver the safe, reliable, sustainable, affordably priced energy and excellent service our business customers count on to get the job done.”



The 2015 Electric Utility Business Customer Satisfaction Study is based on responses from 22,857 online interviews with business customers who spend at least $200 monthly on electricity. The study was conducted from April through June and July through November 2014.
