Northern Powergrid Receives Order of Distinction Award by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents

Northern Powergrid, the region’s electricity distributor has received the internationally recognised Order of Distinction award by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
The company, which delivers power to 3.9 million homes and businesses across the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire, was awarded the Order of Distinction for receiving its 15th consecutive annual Gold Medal in its North East licence area. Northern Powergrid also received its 12th Gold Medal in its Yorkshire licence area and was awarded the Presidential Award.
The RoSPA awards are internationally recognised symbols of safety excellence and recognise Northern Powergrid’s on-going commitment to safety.
Paul Norton, Northern Powergrid’s head of safety who received the awards on behalf of Northern Powergrid, alongside safety engineer Hamish Mackie, said: “We’re extremely proud to receive both the Order of Distinction and the Presidential Award which are a testament to our continued pledge to make safety our number one priority.
“We want every employee and contractor, working for Northern Powergrid, to go home at the end of each shift uninjured and in good health after a productive days work. We work hard to develop a positive, co-operative and forward thinking health and safety culture which keeps safety at the forefront of our employees’ mind whilst we deliver the best possible service for our customers.”
